Welcome to Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy

ABOUT ME
ABOUT ME
Hi, I am Pınar. Starting therapy can feel daunting, especially when it comes to finding the ‘right’ therapist.’ I hope my bio offers some insight and reassurance as you take this step. If you are reading this, it shows courage and the strength to seek support and confront the challenges you face.
I completed my rigorous clinical training at Enfield Counselling and Psychotherapy Service, a distinguished institution renowned for its excellence in psychodynamic counselling and psychotherapy training. Accredited by both the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), the organisation upholds the highest standards of professional practice. As a registered member of the BACP, I am committed to their ethical and professional framework, which includes ongoing supervision and continuous development.
I offer a safe and confidential space where we can explore your concerns and work through them together. I work with a range of issues, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, stress, loss and grief, life transitions, low self-esteem, gender identity, sexuality, relationship issues, racial and cultural issues.
EXPERIENCE
I am an experienced, BACP-registered adult psychodynamic psychotherapist and counsellor. In addition to my private practice, I work part-time at the Maya Centre and Nafsiyat Intercultural Therapy Centre, both pioneering, NHS-funded charities that provide intercultural therapy in multiple languages to diverse cultural communities across London.
My therapeutic approach is shaped not only by clinical training but also by my extensive work in cultural competency and experience in diverse settings. Before embarking on my journey as a psychodynamic therapist, I coordinated cultural competency training, workshops, and reflective group sessions for various organizations, including the NHS and leading universities for various years. This experience provided me with profound insight into the intricate relationship between the psyche and cultural influences, shaping the foundation of my intercultural approach.
My experience of living in multiple countries has given me a deep appreciation of diverse cultures, traditions, and values. It has shaped me into a culturally competent clinician, giving me insight into the challenges that come with major life transitions. I am here to support you through these transitions with understanding and care.
I provide psychotherapy and counselling both in English and Turkish.

HOW IT WORKS
My aim is to help you create a ‘thinking space’ where we can explore your thoughts and behavioral patterns. Through this process, you can gain insight that empowers you to make better life choices and experience life in all its richness, rather than feeling held back by the past.
At the heart of my approach is the ‘therapeutic relationship’ we build together. I work within the ‘psychodynamic model’, which acknowledges the profound impact of our early experiences on who we become. This way of working helps us uncover the powerful connections between past and present.
If you feel stuck in the past, therapy can offer you the opportunity to move forward and create a more fulfilling, meaningful life. Sessions are ‘open-ended and unstructured’, allowing you to bring whatever feels important to explore.
My work primarily involves weekly or twice-weekly sessions, each lasting 50 minutes. I also offer short-term therapy for specific concerns. Our first meeting will be an assessment session, where we can discuss your concerns, evaluate your situation, and determine if I’m the right therapist for you.
I usually see clients in person, but I also provide online sessions via Zoom for those who live far away or abroad.
To help us determine if we’re a good fit, I offer a free 15-minute consultation call.
FEE
My standard fee is £80 per session.
I offer subsidized rates for students and individuals with limited financial means. Please feel free to reach out to discuss further.
